Leadership Training
Our school imbibes leadership skills as integral part of the learning process. Adhering to the true spirit of democracy, a student is elected "Monitor" from eligible students, for each class.
The students are given responsibilities of School Captain, House Captain, sports captain, assistant house captains and prefects from various disciplines. The investiture ceremony is a big day for the students when the office holders are given badges and sashes of office as they pledge their loyalty to the school. Parents are invited to witness their proud moment.
Interactive Assembly
The students are given an opportunity to showcase their special talents at our morning assemblies. Two news readers are selected each day to read out the news. This is followed by morning speech and a quiz on current affairs. Visitors from varied walks of life are invited to speak to the students on this forum. At times students are invited to sing, play on an instrument or share a moving story or a poem.
From time to time there is a panel discussion entitled . The students express views and opinions which they learn to uphold and develop in the parry and thrust of a debate. Tell a tale, just a minute, skits, inter-house competitions on recitation, dance and music are also held.
The school magazine is also published by our young journalists annually.
Personality Development
In our ongoing endeavor to be a school that is bench-marked all the way, we host inter-school competitions, seminars, workshops. We invite not merely students but also counselors, teachers, Head of schools, members from the Department of Education.
A case in point is our seminar 'Did you hear Me?' primarily to bring together Heads of schools with their counterparts in Pre-Nurseries to discuss how to ensure a smooth and stress free transition for the three-year-olds from a cozy pre-nursery to the environs of a large school.
Physical Education
Classes of physical training periods are compulsory for each student every week. Apart from learning the intricacies of various games, sports and physical education, the students develop physical stamina essential to life. We also believe in the motto, "A school which plays together, stays together."
Students take part in national, state and zonal events. The school also provides scholarships to deserving candidates. Students participate in track and field events and inter-school competitions and win trophies for school
Special training in games is provided in specific disciplines before school hours.
The Annual Sports day held at the year end is a popular and an eagerly awaited event.
Regular "Karate" classes are held at dawn.
Excursions
Travel is one of the most effective means of learning. The value of the written word, endorsed by actual images gets indelibly imprinted in the mind. In pursuance of this methodology children are also initiated to coping with like skills by being taken to forest camps where they learn to live in the natural environments of forest like and are taught to cope with intensive physical fitness exercises like mountain climbing, rappelling, kayaking and trekking.
The wide range of excursion experiences is really to enable the child to relate with the same passion to the folk and folklore of rural India as to the opulent ambience of its urban culture.
Excursions are compulsory for each class.
Annual picnic is desperately awaited by every student, which is held every winter.
Winter Tour " To Visit a Historical Period" is optional, which lasts for about a week.
Dance & Drama
Dance and Drama are tangible medium to express life in all its facets-literary, social political and historical and every attempt is made to integrate it into mainstream education.
They translate and transform events, ideas and stores into expressions that stay with the viewer and the participants.
The Dance, Music and Drama culture at AIA finds regular expression in ballets, plays, improvisation, performances in hobby classes and skits presented during the school assembly. Guidance is provided by National Level Artists.
The creative endeavors of the students culminate in the Annual Day function where as many as 200 children participate in a Dance Drama, rhyme, with a social theme.
We have an excellent indoor auditorium and provisions for an amphitheatre to do justice their efforts.
Music
Music is compulsory from grade one at AIA.
All the children take part in group singing which includes regional songs, inter-faith prayers and chanting of Sanskrit hymns. Instrumental music forms an integral part of the music curriculum and children are encouraged to take part in choral music.
Art & Craft
Every attempt is made to introduce children to the rich and varied artistic traditions of the country. Children are allowed to experiment and explore in their chosen medium before being guided to a structured approach. Eminent painters, sculptors, potters are regularly invited to the school. Students are taken to art galleries and shown art films to heighten their awareness and appreciation.
Visiting tribal artists are invited to demonstrate their craft. |
